The Last of Us is getting TV series on HBO
The popular game The Last of Us will be continued as a television series. Pay channel HBO will make the series, with Craig Mazin writing the script. Developer Naughty Dog is also involved in production.
That reports The Hollywood Reporter on the basis of a confirmation of HBO. There were already signals that a television series of The Last of Us would be made, but the pay channel has now also given the green light to release it. Production has already started in March, but it was not yet certain whether the series would also be released.
Writer Craig Mazin has been hired to make the television series. He works with Neil Druckmann, who was involved in the development of the game as creative director. PlayStation Productions, Word Games and developer Naughty Dog are also participating in the production of the series.
This year, The Last of Us: Part II was released, with Sony reporting that it is the ‘fastest selling first-party PlayStation 4 exclusive ever’. In the first three days of its release, the game sold more than 4 million times.
