The Last Campfire from creators No Man’s Sky will be released on consoles and PC on Thursday
Hello Games will release The Last Campfire on Thursday. The Windows version of the game appears in the Epic Games Store and the adventure game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game also appears via Apple Arcade.
Developer Hello Games has put a new video with gameplay online and on the PlayStation blog the creators provide more details about The Last Campfire. The adventure game is about loss, hope and empathy. Players take on the role of Ember, “a lost soul in a charming yet dark world.”
According to its creators, The Last Campfire is a game about exploring the environment and solving puzzles. The character learns new skills while playing with which to overcome increasingly difficult challenges. The game world is ‘surprisingly large’, according to the developer. Since the game can be difficult at times, there is also an exploration mode, where players can explore the world without getting stuck with complicated puzzles.
Hello Games, the studio best known for No Man’s Sky, calls The Last Campfire a project created by a few team members over the years. According to Eurogamer, the game was largely created by Steven Burgess and Chris Symonds. They previously worked at Frontier Developments on the Wii game Lost Winds, which was released in 2008.
The Last Campfire will be released on Thursday, but is not yet available at the time of writing. The Windows version is coming exclusively to the Epic Games Store for now, despite the game already having a page on Steam. The version for the Nintendo Switch costs 15 euros, prices for other platforms are not yet listed.
