The Division 2 will be released on March 15, 2019. The game has been announced, demonstrated and dated in the same breath. Part 2 is set in Washington, six months after the outbreak of the same virus that caused all the trouble in Part 1.

In a short introduction, the narrator speaks of a “remnant of a corrupt state poised to stir up a new civil war,” meaning members of The Division, the group that players belong to, have a new adversary to fight to bind with.

The gameplay demo shows that the game once again places a heavy emphasis on cooperative gameplay with a third-person perspective, cover mechanics and extensive RPG elements that allow players to put together a variety of builds.

Like the first game, The Division 2 will be released for Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game will run in the same Snowdrop Engine that ran the previous title. The studio behind the Division games is Sweden’s Massive Entertainment, which in the past created World in Conflict and contributed to the development of Far Cry 3.
