Test version of PES 2022 created with Unreal Engine is available on consoles
Konami has put an early test version of PES 2022 online in download stores for Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The beta is called New Football Game Online Performance Test and can be played until July 8. It is the first PES game to use the Unreal Engine.
The test version of PES 2022 has appeared in console download stores without notice, Eurogamer noted. The demo doesn’t have an official title yet, but Konami confirms that New Football Game Online Performance Test is an early test version of the ‘next’ PES game.
The test version now available for consoles is next to Konami intended to test the quality of online matchmaking and the connection to the servers. Gameplay, animations and graphics are all still under development, Konami emphasizes. The current demo is not representative of the final game.
Last year, Konami already announced that PES 2021 would be a small update and that a ‘next-gen version’ is being worked hard in the meantime. For that, the developer switched to using the Unreal Engine.
The open beta of the new PES game is available for current and previous generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles. There is cross-gen multiplayer, allowing owners of the new consoles to compete against players with an older console and vice versa. On July 21, Konami will announce more about the new PES game.
