Tesla’s Powerwall battery available in the Benelux from the first quarter
The Tesla Powerwall will be available in the Benelux from early 2016. The Powerwall can be booked immediately via the Tesla website. Energy company Eneco is the first distribution partner and will test the Powerwall in two households in January.
The energy supplier reports this in a news item on its site. The Powerwall is mainly intended for households and companies that have solar panels and want to store the excess energy. The energy can then be used again at night, for example. The battery can also be used by customers with a dual rate meter. This way you can take advantage of the difference between day and night rates.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the arrival of the batteries on May 1 under the name Tesla Energy. There are two different types of batteries: the Powerwall for home use and the Powerpack for business. The batteries for the home have a capacity of 7kWh and 10kWh. According to Tesla, the capacity is sufficient to provide an average household with energy for an evening. By connecting up to nine batteries, the maximum capacity can be increased to 63 or 90 kWh respectively.
An interview with Dirk Jan Middelkoop of Eneco in the AD shows that the Powerwall will cost 3675 euros in the Benelux. It seems likely that it concerns the 7 kWh version.
