Tesla is close to releasing two-factor authentication for its remote control application. The technology would have reached the final test phase and will be released for Tesla owners soon.

The arrival of 2fa was by CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter. In a response to a tweet from a Tesla owner, he indicated that the functionality is being finalized; Musk speaks of final validation. However, he did not give a precise release date.

In his Twitter post, Musk further indicates that two-factor authentication for the auto app is being made available ‘shamefully late’. Tesla had previously promised to secure its car application with 2fa, but it was silent for a long time around the development of the functionality.

With Tesla’s car application it is possible to drive a car remotely. For example, it is possible to unlock the car. Car owners have therefore been asking for additional security options for some time now.
