Tesla makes major recall: nearly 10,000 Model X and Y back
You don’t see them as much as the Model 3 in the Netherlands, but Tesla’s Model X and Y can be spotted from time to time. The cars are very modern, but unfortunately, come with a manufacturing defect. As a result, Tesla has to recall more than 9,500 cars. At the moment, this is only the case in the United States. They have a problem that cannot be solved with an update: it is about improperly fastened screws and glue that is coming off.
Tesla Model X
It concerns cars from a specific year: the Model X from 2016 and the Model Y from 2020. Only 401 of the Model Y need to be returned, for Model X a number of 9,136 units applies. Now loose screws sound very dangerous, but it mainly concerns cosmetic things. Yet they can be dangerous. This could cause a panel on the roof to come loose when driving at high speeds. This results in a very unsafe situation for fellow road users in particular.
According to Reuters , Tesla wants to fully test all cars and still add the primer, of course at no extra costs for the owners of the cars. It is not the first time that something has gone wrong with Tesla’s roofing. While it doesn’t appear to be affiliated with the recall, a Model Y recently lost its entire roof due to poor mounting. However, it is precisely Model X that has roof problems.
Recall Tesla Model Y
Model Y again suffers from something else: loose bolts and nuts. It is a fairly essential part, namely the arm that ensures that you actually go in the direction you are sending. Again, it is not a new problem for Tesla: it had previously had steering problems with the Model S. At that time no fewer than 123,000 cars had to be returned. Fortunately, no accidents have happened with Model Y cars due to the loose bolts, but it is of course not the intention that anything should vibrate further loose.
Despite the many recalls and the sometimes remarkable statements by CEO Elon Musk, Tesla is doing well . The company is doing extremely well on the stock market and in our country we see more and more Teslas on the road. Something that will probably only increase as we add more and more autonomous possibilities to cars. At the same time, it is important for a fairly new player in the car market that there are not too many recalls: they can cause a dent in the confidence of motorists who like to put safety first.
