Tesla’s Autopilot will receive an update later this year that will give the cars the capacity to recognize and respond appropriately to traffic lights and stop signs. Testing has already been done with these new functions. In addition, there will be a function for automatic driving in the city.

Tesla reports on its website when offering its models that recognizing and responding to traffic lights and stop signs is expected later this year; an exact date for the release of the update is still unknown.

At an earlier time, the so-called summon function should also be released. The car can then automatically drive to the owner from a parking space. It is not clear when this function will be released, but given the mention on the website, it will be in the relatively short term.

In addition, a function will be added in due course, which will enable Tesla cars to ‘automatically drive within built-up areas’. What exactly this means and when this feature will be released is unclear; this feature is also ‘expected later this year’.
