Tesla hopes to deliver its first Cybertrucks to customers by mid-2023. CEO Elon Musk announced this during the presentation of Tesla’s quarterly figures. The company also says that it delivered more than 250,000 cars in the past quarter.

In a conference call with investors Musk says Tesla hopes to deliver the first Cybertruck vehicles “mid-next year.” Earlier, the CEO indicated that Cybertruck production will start in 2023. Musk did not say what steps the company still needs to take before the truck can go into production. The Cybertruck was already announced at the end of 2019 and has been delayed since then. Earlier this year, Tesla removed the vehicle’s production date from its website. It initially stated that the truck’s production would start in 2022, which was later than originally planned.

Tesla also indicates that it 75 percent of its bitcoin supply has sold, which accounted for $936 million. The company invested $1.5 billion in the cryptocurrency last year. The company started accepting bitcoin payments in March 2021, but reversed that a month and a half later. According to Musk, Tesla sold a large part of its bitcoin supply because of the uncertainties surrounding the covid lockdowns in China, which forced a Tesla factory to close for some time.

Last quarter, Tesla continued to generate revenue of $16.93 billion, which is 42 percent higher than the same period in 2021. Last quarter, Tesla had revenue of approximately $18.76 billion. Earnings were $2.3 billion higher than expected. The company says it still hopes to achieve 50 percent growth for the full year 2022.

Tesla does indicate that it suffers from obstacles in production. The company produced about 18 percent fewer vehicles in the quarter than in the previous quarter. The company also indicates that it has sufficient battery cells for the rest of the year, but sees “some tightness” in the semiconductor field, especially with older analog and mixed-signal chips. The company claims to have produced 258,580 vehicles and delivered 254,695 of them.
