Tesla has added support for two-factor authentication to its automotive application. With this app, users can unlock their car, among other things. The location of a linked car can also be tracked through the app. Support for multi-factor authentication was recently added to the Tesla app, Electrek also noted. The position is now listed on the company’s website. The app supports “any third-party authentication app you want,” Tesla writes. It is not known if the feature is already available to all users of the app, but the car application allows Tesla owners to manage their car remotely. For example, users can unlock the door, view mileage and schedule service. The location of a linked Tesla car can also be viewed via the app. Elon Musk reported in August that support for two-factor authentication would be added to the Tesla app “ soon ”. The Tesla CEO then reported that the position went through a final validation. In Musk’s own words, the authentication function was introduced ‘shamefully late’. He also talked about two-factor authentication via SMS in August, but this doesn’t seem to be available yet.
