Tesla managed to produce 5,000 Model 3 cars in a week and made a total of 7,000 vehicles in seven days. The company has achieved an important goal after production was plagued by problems.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk emailed the milestone of 5,000 Model 3 cars produced in a week to staff, adding that 6,000 are expected to be made in a week by July. In April, Musk announced that the goal was to produce 5,000 Model 3 cars in seven days by the end of June. That goal was achieved in the last week of June.

“Today we have become a car company,” the CEO wrote in the email, according to Reuters. Musk made himself known that Tesla made 7,000 cars in seven days, and that number includes production of Model S and X units. Tesla was under great pressure to ramp up production of the new model electric car to meet demand.

The Fremont factory was supposed to be an example of a facility that could mass-produce thanks to automation and robotics, but Musk acknowledged that too many robots had been used and production was shut down more than once to improve automation. Tesla also hired more staff to increase production capacity.
