Telltale games has postponed the release of The Wolf Among Us 2 due to the switch to Unreal Engine 5. The only way the studio sees to release the game this year and make that switch is to work overtime, but that don’t want it.

Speaking to IGN Telltale leader Jamie Ottilie explains that the switch from Unreal Engine 4 to 5 is being made because both programmers and artists feel that UE5 has certain features that make the switch worthwhile, but he does not go into detail. Options to still release the game in 2023, as planned, are to have employees work overtime or not to release the game completely. He does not consider either as options, he tells the American gaming medium.

The Wolf Among Us 2 is an adventure game in which players have a degree of influence over the course of the story. Similar titles include The Walking Dead, Tales From The Borderlands, Minecraft: Story Mode and Game of Thrones. These games all also come from Telltale Games.

Telltale Games closed its doors in 2018 ‘after a year of insurmountable challenges’, but made a fresh start the following year. Since then, the studio released Batman: Shadows Edition. The studio is now working on The Wolf Among Us 2, but also on a game based on the television series The Expanse.
