Telenet is working on chatbot for movie suggestions

Telenet has unveiled ‘Mr More’: a chatbot that offers users suggestions for films based on a question-and-answer conversation. Telenet reports the arrival of the Facebook Messenger bot at the same time as an adjustment of its Play More channels.

According to Telenet, Mr More is a ‘self-learning recommendation application that works via Facebook Messenger’. The chatbot should serve as a guide for Telenet’s film offerings. For the time being, this is a test: customers can try the chatbot for three months. Telenet then evaluates the results and decides whether an actual introduction will follow. The bot was developed in collaboration with Froomle, a spin-off from the University of Antwerp.

A short test shows that Mr More can also explain films and redirect users to the Yelo video service. The user can click on suggested answers from the chatbot. When something is said in the chat, even if it is the exact text of a clickable answer, the chatbot does not understand and the user is presented with a quiz.

Simultaneously with the unveiling of Mr More, Telenet is announcing an adjustment of the linear Play More channels. The provider adapts the Prime channels to Play More Cinema and Play More Series, for respective films and series. In addition, there are four genre channels: Kicks, Relax, Select and Black, for consecutive, action, family, drama and horror movies.
