Telegram makes it possible to use messaging service without a SIM card
Telegram has released an update that means that the messaging service can now be used without a SIM card. The chat app also gets an aggressive anti-spam filter and the option to create temporary QR codes for account sharing.
Users who do not want to use a SIM card in combination with the chat app can choose to use an anonymous telephone number via the blockchain network from Fragment is distributed for purchase. The messaging service also comes with a global auto-delete timer that allows all future messages in all conversations to be automatically deleted if the user chooses. This feature was previously only available for individual calls.
The development team behind Telegram introduces also new features for Topics; these are theme-related group discussions within a group. These Topics are now also available for groups with more than 100 members and users will see a new interface with the update that makes it even easier to follow different Topics conversations.
The messaging service is also introducing a new anti-spam filter that would be more aggressive in blocking spam messages. According to Telegram, more messages would be blocked thanks to the filter, including regular messages. They can be reported and indicated.
Users who want to share their Telegram account without revealing their phone number can now do so via temporary QR codes. iOS users get an emoji search feature that Android users have had for a while. Those Android users then get a new menu in which the storage space of the app can be managed.
