Telegram will end the limit of up to 1,000 viewers on live streams and video group calls. As of update 8.0, released this week, such video streams can be viewed by an unlimited number of users.

Telegram has lifted the viewer limit of 1,000 people from video calls in group chats and live streams in so-called channels, the developer reports in a blog post. That does not mean that all viewers can also actively participate in a conversation or live stream. As before, up to thirty people can simultaneously turn on their camera or share their screen during a video call or live stream.

Telegram also tweaks the media forwarding feature, with flexible forwarding. This gives users the option to hide captions from photos and videos. Also, since update 8.0, users can hide the original sender’s name.

Furthermore, users can switch channels more easily. When users scroll to the end of a channel, a prompt appears at the bottom of the screen where they can swipe up. Telegram automatically switches to the next chat channel with unread messages. Also, trending stickers are now displayed in the app and there are new animated emojis in Telegram.

Earlier this week, analysts at Sensor Tower reported that Telegram has been downloaded more than a billion times since the platform’s release in 2013. The app is said to have grown considerably in recent years. Earlier this year, Telegram reported that it has more than 500 million active users.
