Telegram introduces new privacy and security features in app version 8.3
Telegram, via an app version 8.3, gives group or channel administrators the option to prevent forwarding, saving, or screenshotting messages in group conversations. The update brings many other features including the option to delete messages via a calendar menu.
The new update also makes it possible to manage all devices on which a Telegram user is logged in. For example, you can set which device can receive calls or secret chats. An option was also added to automatically log out of inactive sessions after a certain time and to connect to a desktop device ‘quickly’.
Users who prefer to communicate anonymously in a public group or channel will get that option with the new update. Instead of using the chat name, it will then be possible to post messages in the name of the channel.
Telegram reports that users of some devices will be able to log into the chat service via a call. Telegram users who choose to do so will be called by a phone number, after which they will be asked to enter some digits of that number.
From now on, users will also see the name of the group or channel when an administrator of that group or channel contacts them about a potential request to join.
The chat settings menu has been overhauled and the Android app gets eight new color themes via the latest update. Captions can now be underlined, italicized and in bold, and the information page of a contact in the iOS version was given a modified appearance that, according to the company, is more in line with iOS design guidelines.
