Telegram has upgraded its chat app with a number of new features, including a download manager. In it, users can pause or prioritize downloads. Since 2020 it is already possible to send files of up to 2GB via Telegram.

When Telegram users start a download, they will see a new icon in the search field. The download manager can be opened by clicking on it. If several downloads are in progress at the same time, it is possible to change the priority in this screen and downloads can also be paused. In addition, recent downloads are displayed. Telegram has been offering the option of sending large files among themselves for years. Since 2020, the file limit is 2GB. File management through the Files tab has also been improved. From now on, it will also show recently sent files and let users search for files by name.

Telegram also refreshes the menu for adding attachments to a message. When selecting multiple photos and videos, users can now preview what that will look like in the chat. Then you can scroll with the chosen media. In the iOS version of the app, the attachments menu has been completely redesigned to match that of the Android version.

The update also allows users to share a link with a phone number, which allows others to instantly start a Telegram chat. Previously this only worked with the username. The links use the t.me/+123456789 format, using the international format of the phone number. According to Telegram, the update will be released on Friday.
