Teardown confirms 3GB RAM and 8827mAh battery in new 10.2″ iPadi
A teardown from iFixit has confirmed that the iPad’s recently released iPad has 3GB of RAM, which is 1GB more than the previous model. The battery has not received extra capacity from Apple.
The fact that the new iPad has no extra battery capacity compared to its predecessor is striking, because the battery life should be better with a larger screen. But iFixit shows that the capacity of the battery is 8827mAh, which is the same as with the previous model. Since Apple claims a better battery life, it has probably optimized the power consumption.
In addition, iFixit shows that the new iPad has 3GB of ram on board. That is more than the previous model, which has to make do with 2GB. Apple had not disclosed anything about this, although it was already suspected that the Cupertino company had built in 3GB.
Apple announced the new iPad earlier this month. It also announced that iOS for the iPad will henceforth be called iPadOS. In addition to the 1GB of extra RAM, the larger screen of 10.2 “is the biggest innovation. The previous model had a 9.7” screen. The new iPad also has support for the Smart Connector.
