TCL will introduce QD OLED TV this year
The Chinese manufacturer TCL, which is known for televisions with mini LED backlights, says this year it will also release OLED televisions based on QD OLED panels from Samsung Display. This makes it the third manufacturer after Samsung Electronics and Sony to come up with these OLED TVs.
The announcement was done by the American department of TCL, so it is still questionable whether the manufacturer will also release the QD OLED TVs in Europe. Few details are known yet. TCL is not yet talking about exact models, screen sizes or other specifications. TCL’s first QD OLED TV should appear in the second half of this year. This year, QD OLED TVs with a screen size of 55, 65 or 77 inches may appear.
For the time being, only Samsung Electronics and Sony have launched a QD OLED TV, namely the S95B and A95K. These are the only televisions based on a QD OLED panel from Samsung Display. All other OLED TVs are based on white OLED screens from LG Display and use a different OLED technology. More manufacturers may be added, because TP Vision, the maker of the Philips TVs, has previously announced that it is considering also releasing QD OLED televisions.
