TCL introduces C93 mini LED TV with 4k144 and 1080 or 1920 dimmable zones
TCL has announced QLED LCD TVs with mini LED backlight for the European market. Below that is the flagship model, the C93, a mini LED TV that combines 4k with 144Hz and has individually dimmable zones, depending on the diagonal chosen, 1080 or 1920.
The C93 comes in two sizes: 65″ and 75″. The smaller version gets 1080 and the larger 1920 individually dimmable zones. This is TCL’s most advanced mini LED backlight system, writes FlatpanelsHD based on TCL.
TCL’s C93, likely to be marketed as C935, will receive an undisclosed number of connectors that support HDMI 2.1 bandwidths. That means 40 or 48 Gbit/s. ALMM and VRR at both 120Hz and 144Hz are also supported, as are the Game Bar and FreeSync Premium. The model also gets a 2.1.2 speaker system from Onkyo, which includes two upward-firing speakers. The maximum brightness appears to be 2000cd/m².
The C93 and on the right the C83
In addition, the manufacturer comes with the slightly lower placed C83, whose number of dimmable zones is not clear. Presumably it concerns a lower number of zones than with the C93, but in terms of HDMI 2.1 and the associated features, the specifications are the same. The C83 is available in 55, 65 and 75 inch sizes and appears to have a brightness of 1000cd/m².
TCL also comes with the C73 and C63. These are lower positioned models that do not have a mini LED backlight and therefore have a less finely meshed or absent fald backlight and probably can be less bright. The C73 still supports HDMI 2.1 and VRR up to 144Hz and comes in the sizes 55, 65 and 75 inches.
With the C63, HDMI 2.1 and ALLM are mentioned, but messages about 144Hz and VRR are missing. Presumably, the C63 does not go beyond 120Hz. TCL’s black frame insertion option, called Motion Clarity, doesn’t go beyond 50 or 60Hz on the C63, while it goes down to 144Hz on the other models. The C63 will be available in 43, 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches.
All C-series televisions support Google TV and come with Android TV version 11. They also all support the main HDR formats: HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Later this year, TCL will also come with larger 4k televisions in the C73 series with diagonals of 85 and 98 inches.
