TCL Introduces 75″ 8K QLED TV with Built-in Video Calling Camera
TCL announces an 8k television for the European market based on a Qled LCD panel from Samsung. The X915 will have a built-in camera so that users can use the 75″ TV for video calling.
The X915 has three HDMI 2.1 connections, which means support for allm, eARC and VRR. In addition, the manufacturer reports that there is full bandwidth support for 8k and 60fps, although the company does not say whether that means the full bandwidth of 48Gbit/s is available. This is not the case with many TVs.
The 8k TV features fald, with TCL talking about 120 individual zones to dim the backlight. In addition, the manufacturer says that the X915 analyzes video content in 2304 separate zones to adjust the contrast and sharpness. The X915 achieves a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m² and supports multiple HDR standards: hdr10, hlg, hdr10+ and Dolby Vision.
Furthermore, the television supports the av1 video codec, which makes it possible to stream YouTube in 8k resolution. This support for YouTube in 8k will come at a later date, according to the company, as part of a later update that brings version 10 of Android TV to the TV.
The television has a soundbar that TCL has developed together with Onkyo. There is support for Dolby Atmos, although the soundbar does not have upward-facing speakers. TCL will release the television in Europe in the coming weeks for a suggested retail price of 3999 euros.
In addition, TCL comes with two midrange 4K LCD TVs, the C815 and the C715. The former comes in 55″, 65″ and 75″ for prices of 899, 1199, and 1799 euros respectively. This model gets an Onkyo sound system. The slightly lower-positioned C715 comes in 50″, 55″, and 65″ for 699, 799 and 999 euros respectively. In both cases, the models are presented as Qled TVs; it concerns TVs with VA panels and quantum dots. There is no support for HDMI 2.1 and the TVs run on Android TV 9.
