TCL equips Alcatel smartphone with dual front and back cameras

Smartphone manufacturer TCL has announced the Alcatel Flash. The device is equipped with four cameras: two on the front and two on the back. The 5.5 “device with Helio X20-soc does not seem to be released in Europe for the time being.

On the back of the Alcatel Flash are two 13-megapixel cameras. These use Sony IMX258 sensors in the small 1/3.06″ format. One of the sensors takes black and white photos, the other is suitable for color photos. Also, the information from the sensors can be combined for effects such as simulating The lenses have an f/2.0 aperture and a dual-tone flash, and raw photos can be shot.

The front cameras have a resolution of eight and five megapixels. The manufacturer does not disclose which sensors TCL uses for this. The lenses also have an aperture of f/2.0 on the front. The front cameras both shoot pictures in color and the combination of the two cameras is used for a depth of field effect.

The device runs on Android 6.0 and is equipped with the Helio X20 soc from MediaTek. That is a chip that consists of ten ARM cores in three clusters. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. The 5.5 “screen has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and the battery has a capacity of 3100mAh. At the back is a fingerprint scanner under the cameras. The phone has a USB-C connection and offers space for two SIM cards.

Alcatel has the device on its Arabic website and according to PocketNow the device is sold in physical stores in countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, Pakistan and Qatar. It has not been announced whether the device will also come to Europe. The device is called Alcatel Flash, but has nothing to do with the earlier phones in the Alcatel Flash series.
