‘Tamron comes with 28-75 mm f/2.8 lens for Sony system cameras’
Tamron is going to release a bright zoom lens for Sony system cameras with a full-frame sensor. This is evident from teasers and images that have been put online. Tamron is the first third party manufacturer to come up with a zoom for Sony cameras.
Tamron posted a teaser of the lens on Instagram last week, from which it was not yet clear what it was about. The Japanese Nokishita blog has now posted a leaked photo online, showing the entire lens. The image shows that it is the Tamron 28-75 mm f/2.8 Di III RXD and that the lens has a Sony E mount.
There are no detailed specifications of the Tamron lens yet, but the Tamron is presumably a lot more compact and cheaper than Sony’s own FE 24-70 mm f/2.8 GM lens. That zoom costs more than 2200 euros and weighs almost 900 grams. According to SonyAlphaRumors, Tamron will officially announce the zoom on February 22.
Various manufacturers already make lenses for Sony’s system cameras with an E-mount, but until now these were in all cases models with a fixed focal length. Tamron has already released an 18-200mm lens for Sony mirrorless cameras with an aps-c sensor in the past, but so far that’s it.
Tamron is also coming with a 70-210mm f/4 Di VC lens, according to images also posted online on the Nokishita blog and on CanonWatch. However, this lens is not a copy for Sony cameras, but for DSLRs. There will probably be versions for the SLR cameras from Canon and Nikon.
