The Swiss watch brand Tag Heuer will release its first smartwatch on November 9. The previously announced timepiece runs on Android and Intel hardware. The smart watch should fetch $1800.

It was already known that Tag Heuer was working on a smartwatch and that they had Google and Intel on board for that. However, the exact date of the release was not yet clear. The CEO of Tag Heuer said in an interview on the CNBC program Squawk on the Street that it will be November 9. He was also able to report that the price will be 1800 dollars, 400 dollars more than previous reports reported.

The watch from the luxury brand of the LVMH group will be called Carrera Wearable 01 and will be shown to the public for the first time in the LVMH building in New York. According to the CEO Jean-Claude Biver of Tag Heuer, the price is not very crazy. He compares the price with that of a Hermès Apple Watch. Its cheapest model has a starting price of $1100. Less than a year ago, the CEO said that the ‘tsunami that is approaching cannot be ignored’, referring to the stream of smartwatch releases.

Furthermore, the CEO thinks that the Apple Watch opens the way for tapping into a new group of young consumers who have ignored the old watches. Another luxury brand, Gucci, is also working on a smartwatch, the i.am+.
