Riot Games has revealed more details about its tactical shooter and revealed gameplay footage. The game, previously known as Project A, will be called Valorant. It is a free-to-play game in which two teams of five players compete against each other.

Pots in Valorant are based on 24 rounds, in which teams must attack or defend. Players can choose from a variety of characters from different cultural backgrounds. Each character has unique abilities designed to enable tactical gameplay. According to the makers, the abilities are complementary to the gunplay in the game.

Riot Games promises 128-tick servers and on ‘a ten-year-old computer’ a frame rate of 30 fps should be achievable. Modern gaming PCs easily reach 60 to 144 fps, according to the developer. The game will have servers worldwide and that should give a ping of less than 35ms for players in all major cities. Riot says it has worked on the network code and anti-cheat measures for years.

An exact release date has not yet been announced, but Valorant should be available worldwide from the summer. The game is free to download and play and will likely feature cosmetic microtransactions like other games from Riot. Riot Games is mainly known for League of Legends. The tactical shooter was announced last year. A game session recently showed that the game has many similarities with CS:GO.
