System76 shows new version of its Gazelle laptop with discrete GPU
System76 has unveiled a new variant of its Gazelle laptop. The device has an i9-13900H CPU, up to 64GB DDR4 memory, an RTX 3050 and a 15.6″ or 17.3″ display. System76 markets the laptop to gamers and developers.
System76, which also develops Pop!_OS, supplies the laptop with that OS or Ubuntu, in both cases the LTS variant. Both display sizes have a refresh rate of 144Hz, but there is no mention of support for G-Sync, FreeSync or VESA AdaptiveSync.
System76 offers many options when it comes to storage and RAM. The laptop can fit two NVME drives and the options start with a 250GB PCI-E Gen3 drive and end with a 4TB Gen4 drive. The latter has a maximum sequential read speed of 7300MB/s and in terms of writing it is 6600MB/s. The second SSD has a maximum of one Gen3 slot available. The RAM choices start at 8GB and go from 16GB, 32GB to 64GB. The speed is 3200MHz for all capacities.
Furthermore, the laptop has a 54Wh battery, a keypad with RGB backlight, WiFi-6E, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, both type-A and type-C ports, a 2-in-1 3.5mm audio output, a micro SD card reader and video out via HDMI and mini display port. The firmware is also accessible, so programmers have access to adjustments in the areas of keyboard, fans and battery.
System76 charges a starting price of $1,299 for the laptop. For example, a 17.3″ display, 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD increase that to $1642. Converted and including VAT, that is 1441 and 1822 euros respectively. Shipping costs start at 128 euros. This is the cheapest laptop from System76 with a discrete GPU.
