System Shock remake releases in March
The remake of the game System Shock will be released in March. The game will then be released on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X, Series S and One, and PC. The game has already been delayed several times, but now the date is final, writes developer Nightdive.
Developer Nightdive writes on the Kickstarter page that a more definitive date has been announced for when the System Shock remake will be released. System Shock is a shooter where players wake up on a spaceship and have to shoot and hack their way out. The game is originally from 1994, but the developers started a campaign on Kickstarter in 2016 to create a modern remaster. This was delayed for years, but now seems to be finally happening. The makers say that the game will be released in March 2023, although they have not yet given a firm date. The release period is now also on the game’s Steam page.
It is not the first time that the developer has mentioned a cautious release date. Nightdive acknowledges this, but states that the situation is different this time. “The scope and scale of the project have changed dramatically since publisher Prime Matter joined the project.” As a result, the developers would have mainly focused on quality improvements and bug fixes, which Nightdive calls ‘the last big steps’.
The developer also mentions various improvements to the game in the blog post, such as graphical adjustments and a new enemy type in the game. Last year, Nightdive already showed a seven-minute gameplay trailer.
