Synology Unveils Entry-level NAS Systems DS120j and DS420j
Synology adds two new NAS systems to its lineup, the DS120j with a single bay and the DS420j with four bays. The systems differ little from their predecessors and are part of the 2020 line-up.
The two NAS devices appear in the j-series, Synology’s cheapest product line. The DS120j and the DS420j hardly differ from their predecessors, the DS119j from last year and the DS418j from 2017. The DS120j still has an Armada A3720 dualcore at 800MHz, but the amount of RAM has doubled from 256MB to 512MB DDR3.
The DS420j has a minuscule processor upgrade over its predecessor, from the Realtek RTD1293 to the Realtek RTD1296. It is not known what the systems will cost. Synology showed them at its Synology 2020 event in Utrecht with the announcement that they are part of the 2020 lineup.
