Synology releases entry-level NAS DS220j for 172 euros
Synology has released its two-bay DiskStation DS220j NAS. The model is aimed at consumers, and equipped with a quad-core-soc and ddr4. This makes the DS220j more powerful than its predecessor DS218j, which is equipped with a dualcore and DDR3.
Synology reports that the DiskStation DS220j is available for a suggested retail price of 172 euros. Web stores have now included the nas and are offering it for prices around that amount. The NAS was already introduced last month, but then the device was only available in Taiwan.
The DS220j is the successor of the DS218j from 2017. The new model is largely the same, but equipped with a Realtek RTD1296 soc. That is a 64bit quadcore that Synology also uses in the DS218 and D218play.
There is room for two HDDs or SSDs in the 3.5″ or 2.5″ format. Just like its predecessor, the DS220j has two USB 3.0 connections and a gigabit Ethernet port. Last month, Synology also released a version for four HDDs: the DS420j with the same soc.
