Synology has released the DiskStation DS1019+. It is a desktop NAS with five bays that also has two M2 slots for SSDs. The processor is a Celeron soc from Intel.

The DiskStation DS1019+ is equipped with a Celeron J3455 quad-core processor at 1.5GHz that can peak up to 2.3GHz. There are two ddr3l memory modules of 4GB each on board. According to the manufacturer, the DS1019+ achieves sequential read and write speeds of more than 225MB/s, with the data encrypted.

Synology supplies the device with dual m2 2280 slots, allowing the user to create a cache based on NVME SSDs without using the drive bays. A DX517 expansion unit allows you to scale up to ten drives. The maximum internal storage capacity based on 14TB drives thus doubles from 70TB to 140TB.

The DS1019+ supports online h264 and h265 transcoding via Video Station and DS video, including from 4k streams. According to Synology, this ensures that 4k videos can be converted and played on computers and media players that do not otherwise support Ultra HD formats.

Synology could not yet provide the suggested retail price, but the system is now available at various web stores for prices from 745 to approximately 770 euros.
