Synology launches single-bay DS115j nas
Synology has announced the DS115j, a compact single-bay NAS server. According to the manufacturer, the NAS is up to 28 percent faster than its predecessor. Also, the storage system would consume less than 4W in standby.
A single hard disk of up to 6TB can be placed in the NAS. Synology has equipped the DS115j with a single-core Marvell Armada 370-soc that runs at a clock speed of 800MHz. There is 256MB DDR3 RAM available. There is also a gigabit Ethernet port, along with two USB 2.0 connections.
The ‘budgetnas’ could achieve reads of up to 130MB/s in Windows environments, making it 28 percent faster than the DS114j. In standby, the NAS would burn 3.85W and in operation 12.6W.
Synology provides two free IP camera licenses for its Surveillance Station software with the NAS. The NAS also runs on DiskStation Manager 5.0. The DS115j is available immediately and has a suggested retail price of 91.60 euros.
