Synology launches single-bay DiskStation DS115

Synology has announced the DS115, a single-bay NAS equipped with a dual-core processor. The entry-level nas also contains a USB 3.0 connection. According to Synology, the NAS performs about 36 percent better when writing data than its predecessor.

The DiskStation DS115 features an Armada 375 88F6720 soc from Marvell. This dual-core processor is clocked at 800MHz. Furthermore, 512MB of RAM is present. The NAS supports a SATA drive of up to 6TB. In addition to a USB 2.0 connection, the NAS also features a USB 3.0 input. Furthermore, an esata connection is present, along with a gigabit ethernet connection.

According to Synology, the NAS can achieve read speeds of up to 111MB/s, while write speeds peak at 104MB/s. This would make the NAS at write speeds up to 36 percent faster than the previous model, the DS114.

According to the manufacturer, the power consumption is 5.4W in sleep mode and 10.2W when the hard drive is running. Furthermore, the DS115 is equipped with DSM 5.1, the last operating system for Synology storage systems. The DS115 is available immediately. The suggested retail price is 151.25 euros.
