Synology Introduces Network Recorder with Video Analytics for Home Users
Synology announces the NVR DVA1622, a network video recorder with two HDD bays aimed at small businesses and home users. Users can have two analysis tasks performed simultaneously, for example for detection and identification.
With two slots, the DVA1622 is the little brother of the previously released DVA3221, which has four. With the compact network video recorder, Synology focuses more on home users. The DVA1622 can perform fewer analysis tasks simultaneously than the DVA 3221, two versus twelve, but unlike that model, the device has an HDMI output and support for keyboard and mouse controls.
The DVA1622 can manage sixteen cameras and supports various security features. For example, the Intrusion Detection function is available, with which users can determine which boundaries may not be crossed. If the cameras detect that someone is climbing over a wall, for example, the system can give notifications. Synology also points to the ability to identify people who are allowed or not allowed to go somewhere, people counting, number plate recognition and monitoring private parking spaces that must remain free.
Synology ships the DVA1622 with its Surveillance Station 9.0 software. According to the company, this software enables combination with I/O modules, audio systems, door controllers and other monitoring devices, among others. Video recordings can be sent via HTTPS and the system supports adding watermarks to the image live.
Synology does not mention a price, but the DVA1622 is available at the first online stores for about 660 euros.
