Synology Introduces FlashStation FS1018 and DiskStation DS218
Synology has added two new products to its lineup: the Flashstation FS1018 for SSDs and with an Intel processor and the Diskstation DS218, with space for two disks and with a quad-core soc from Realtek.
The Flashstation FS1018 can house twelve 2.5″ SSDs. The NAS contains an Intel Pentium D1508 dual core running at 2.2GHz and has standard 8GB DDR4 memory in a single SO-DIMM slot, which can be expanded to two. times 16GB in the two available slots.The NAS has four gigabit Ethernet ports and expansion with network cards is possible via the PCI-e 3.0 x8 slot.A suggested retail price has not yet been announced.
The Diskstation DS218 has a Realtek RTD1296 soc with four Cortex A53 cores at 1.4GHz. This nas can, among other things, process 10bit h265 video at 4k at 60fps. The system has 2GB ddr4 that is not expandable and there are two drive bays for 2.5″ or 3.5″ drives. This home and small business NAS has a single Gigabit Ethernet port, a USB 2.0 port, and two USB 3.0 variants. The suggested retail price including VAT is about 273 euros.
