Synology Introduces DS416j NAS

Synology has introduced a new NAS in the J series, its budget series. The DiskStation DS416j can accommodate up to four drives, with a maximum capacity of 32TB. That is, 8TB per disk and a maximum size per volume of 16TB.

The NAS has a dual-core 1.3GHz processor, the Marvell Armada 388 88F6828, and a system memory of 512MB DDR3. The DS416j has one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 connection. In addition, the NAS has a gigabit LAN port. The dimensions of the NAS are 184x168x230mm and it weighs 2.21kg.

According to Synology, the DS416j achieves an average read speed of about 113MB per second and a write speed of about 101MB/s. Furthermore, the NAS comes with Synology’s operating system DiskStation Manager, with which, among other things, the brightness of the lights on the NAS can be adjusted.

The NAS works with Windows, Mac and Linux. The DiskStation DS416j is already available and has a suggested retail price of 314.60 euros.
