Synology has announced the DS1520 +, a five-bay NAS that focuses on small and medium-sized businesses. The manufacturer has provided the storage system with, among other things, four gigabit ethernet connections. There are also two m2 slots for SSDs.

The processor of the DS1520 + is the Intel Celeron J4125. This is a four-core soc that works at 2GHz by default and can run at a maximum burst clock speed of 2.7GHz. Synology combines the CPU with 8GB DDR4 memory. The nas can hold five 3.5 “or 2.5” storage media. The device also has two m2 connections for NVME SSDs, which can then be used as a cache.

When using five 16TB HDDs, the nas offers a maximum storage capacity of 80TB, but the system can be combined with the DX517 expansion unit for a total of fifteen bays and a maximum of 240TB. Thanks to the presence of four RJ45 connections, the nas is generously sized for gigabit ethernet. In addition, there are two esata and two USB 3.0 ports.

The DS1520 + measures 166x230x223 mm and the weight is 2.26 kilograms. The nas takes a place higher in the Synology range than the DS920 + announced in July, with better specifications. At $ 700, the price is also a lot higher than the DS920 +, which has a US suggested retail price of $ 560.
