Synology enables the use of a phone as an IP camera with Surveillance Station
Synology has released Surveillance Station 8.2 after a beta period of about two months. The software includes the LiveCam app for iOS, with which smartphones can be used as a security camera.
According to Synology, the function is particularly useful for giving old smartphones a second life as an IP camera. Initially, the LiveCam app is only available for iOS, but an Android version will also follow in October.
Surveillance Station 8.2 now also supports IP speakers and includes an optimized version of DS cam, which is said to perform better and support multiple timelines. In addition, there is a Smart Time Lapse function, for displaying long videos in minutes.
The Application Center has been revamped and offers 26 applications and utilities to customize the software. There is also double authorization with which access to sensitive parts, such as opening video recordings, can be made dependent on permission. Finally, Synology has made it easy to set up a live stream to YouTube.
Synology Surveillance Station is a NAS system application that allows you to save images from different IP cameras.
