Synology has announced the pricing of its Cloud2 backup service. You can choose from packages with a capacity of 100GB to 10TB. The service will lose its beta status on September 18.

Cloud2, which Synology abbreviates to C2, will be available in four price categories. The versions with a capacity of 100GB, 300GB and 1TB cost respectively 9.99 euros, 24.99 euros and 59.99 euros per year. The 1TB version can also be renewed monthly for 5.99 euros. The 10TB package costs 69.99 euros per terabyte per year.

The cloud service is encrypted with aes256 and can be controlled via a web browser. The three cheaper versions have daily backups and access to a file version history. The 10TB package includes more comprehensive versioning, deduplication, and hourly backup capability.

Synology C2 can only be used in combination with a Synology NAS. The Hyper Backup app allows the NAS systems to back up themselves to the cloud service. It is not possible to send a backup of a computer directly to the service.
