Symantec consumer division is now called NortonLifeLock
Symantec’s consumer division continues under the name NortonLifeLock. The company has completed the sale of its corporate business to Broadcom and is no longer allowed to use the Symantec name.
The new name NortonLifeLock is a combination of two brands that Symantec previously used. Norton is the brand name under which the company sold software to consumers and LifeLock is the name of a company that makes software to combat identity theft. Symantec acquired that company in 2016. The LifeLock software was then added to the Norton range.
The name change has been initiated now that the sale of the business unit to Broadcom has been completed. The takeover was launched in August. Broadcom paid $10.7 billion for the business arm of the security company. With the acquisition, Broadcom has also acquired the Symantec brand name.
Symantec will continue to exist as a brand name. The logo now states that it is a division of Broadcom. NortonLifeLock also uses the old Symantec logo, but now combines it with the new company name.
