Switch outsells Wii in first two days in the Americas
Nintendo revealed in an interview that its Switch console sold more units in the Americas in its first two days than previous models. The best-selling console for the Switch was the Wii.
The information is originating by New York Times journalist Nick Wingfield, who interviewed American Nintendo CEO Reggie Fils-Aimé. The record is set in the first two release days of the Switch from Friday to Saturday. Exact numbers are not yet known. Wingfield adds that Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is the best-selling standalone title for Nintento to date. Previously it was Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64.
VentureBeat relies on numbers from Bloomberg writer Yuji Nakamura when it comes to Switch sales in Japan. There are so far 313,700 copies sold. That’s less than Wii sales in its first week, which amounted to 371,900 in that country. The new console scored better than the Wii U, which sold 308,600 units.
Figures on the European sales of the Switch are not yet available. The console also went on sale here on Friday for a price of 329 euros.
