Switch games Zelda and Super Mario Odyssey get VR mode for Labo: VR glasses
Nintendo makes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild playable in its entirety with the Labo: VR glasses and Super Mario Odyssey gets a small VR mode. The games will receive an update on April 26 with virtual reality support.
It is not yet clear how the VR mode of Zelda: Breath of the Wild works. Nintendo has a video posted on twitter in which images can be seen and this seems to indicate that the VR version has a third-person perspective at least just like the regular game. Players don’t have to start over either, they can load an existing savegame.
The video goes into more detail about the VR mode that Super Mario Odyssey gets. This is a small addition with three mini missions. According to Nintendo, this provides a child-friendly VR experience. The VR updates for Zelda and Mario are free and will be released on April 26.
Nintendo announced the Labo: VR pack in early March and will release it on April 12. It consists of a kit into which the Switch must be inserted. When using the cardboard-like VR glasses, users have to hold the whole thing in front of their eyes with their hands. The cheapest version of the Labo: VR package is available in web stores for about forty euros.
