SwiftKey Beta for Android automatically switches to Incognito mode in private tab
The Android version of SwiftKey Beta automatically switches to Incognito mode when the user completes a field in the tab of a private browser or conversation. As a result, entered words cannot be found in the dictionary of the virtual keyboard.
The functionality came with the 72231 build of SwiftKey Beta. Incognito mode has been available for the keyboard since 2016, but it had to be activated by the user. According to Android Police, automatic switching works in most major web browsers except UC Browser. Neowin reports that the feature also works in private conversations in Telegram.
When the keyboard has automatically switched to Incognito mode, it cannot be turned off manually. This is possible when using regular fields and browsers. It is not yet known when the functionality will come out of beta and when it will be available for the iOS version of SwiftKey.
SwiftKey Beta isn’t the first virtual keyboard to include an automatic switch to Incognito mode. Gboard has been supporting this functionality for Google Chrome since 2017.
