Swatch comes with its own fitness smartwatch
Swatch has announced that it is working on a smartwatch primarily intended for fitness purposes. The device comes from the existing Swatch Touch series of watches and should be on the market sometime next year.
The plans were revealed in a Swiss Sunday newspaper reported by Reuters. According to Nick Hayek, who works as CEO at Swatch, there are plans to launch a watch with fitness features. The CEO emphasizes that the device is primarily intended as a watch and that it will be released in the existing Swatch Touch series.
Hayek does not give many details about what the smartwatch will be able to do. The CEO says it has “usual functions for measuring physical fitness” on board, but what this means is not entirely clear. However, Swatch has announced that the smartwatch should be released next year. It is unknown what the price will be.
There were rumors that Swatch would develop a smartwatch in collaboration with Apple. Recently, however, this was already denied by the Swiss watchmaker. Apple has been expected to release a smartwatch with the iWatch itself for some time.
