Suspected Xiaomi Mi A2 appears on inspection site
The presumed successor to the Android One smartphone Xiaomi Mi A1 has appeared on the site of the Chinese approval authority Tenaa. The inspection does show photos, but no specifications of the device.
The phone with the type number M1804D2SE has a 5.99″ screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a battery with a capacity of 2910mAh. The device measures 158.88 × 75.54 × 7.3 mm, according to the inspection. Compared to the Mi A1, it is striking that the dual camera is rotated a quarter turn. The Mi A1 has a horizontal dual camera, this device has a vertical dual camera.
It is probably a metal design, because above and below the antenna edges can be seen. PhoneRadar speculates that it is the Mi A2, which will go on sale in China under the Mi 6x name. The size and design indicated, among other things, that it is a device in the same series.
Phones often come out through Tenaa’s inspections. The introduction often follows within a few weeks or months. The version tested by Tenaa only supports td-lte, which Chinese providers use. A variant for the European market also needs support for fdd-lte.
In Europe, Xiaomi officially sells its smartphones in Spain, Portugal and Poland. It is not known whether and when the manufacturer will start selling its devices in the Benelux.
