Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gets a stage builder and Persona 5 character Joker
Nintendo will release patch 3.0 for Super Smash Bros. on Thursday. Ultimate. This includes a new stage builder added. Furthermore, the character Joker from Persona 5 will be available as a fighter, although that is only for those who buy a separate pass or pack.
The Stage Builder is a new feature that allows players to use in-game tools to, for example, add moving platforms, spinning traps and other elements to their custom battle arenas. In handheld mode, the Switch’s touchscreen can be used. Newly designed arenas become available in the new stage select screen and can also be shared online via the new Smash World service for the Nintendo Switch Online app.
In addition, the patch adds a video editor. This allows video content stored on a Nintendo Switch to be merged to create a “timeline presentation”. Subtitles and sound effects can also be added. This material can then also be shared via the Smash World service for the Nintendo Switch Online app. Nintendo announces on Twitter that replays created in versions prior to 2.02 are not supported in the new 3.0 version of the game. To keep these, players are asked to convert the replays to video before the update is implemented.
Nintendo further reports that the Joker character from the 2017-released RPG Persona 5 will only be available to those who own the Super Smash Bros. Purchase Ultimate Fighters Pass or the Challenger Pack 1. In addition, a Persona-based Mementos stage will also be added and eleven tracks from Persona 3, 4 and 5. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass costs 25 euros and the Challenger Pack with Joker costs 6 euros.
