Super Smash Bros. 3DS gets support for Amiibo after update
Nintendo plans to release the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. with Amiibo support. The necessary update will be available to handheld owners from Tuesday. Amiibos are dolls in which game progress can be saved.
The arrival of Amiibo support was reported by Nintendo Life, which has the information from a Nintendo spokesperson. Starting Tuesday, an update for Super Smash Bros. 3DS which brings compatibility with the toy dolls. The connection is then made via the short-range NFC technology.
Incidentally, handhelds other than the New Nintendo 3DS require an adapter to connect to Amiibo. That adapter will probably be released this year, but no release date has been announced yet.
Amiibo figures were introduced by Nintendo last year for the Wii U. So far there is only limited support for them: only few games support the figures. With Amiibo it is possible to save progress in-game on the figure.
