Super Nintendo World opens its doors this spring with two attractions
Nintendo will open its own section in the Universal Studios theme park in Japan in the spring of 2020. The park section was announced in 2014 and will initially contain two attractions. In time, Super Nintendo World should also come to other Universal parks.
During the opening, the Nintendo area will feature a Mario Kart-themed roller coaster and a Yoshi ride, said Tom Williams, CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts. No further details have been given about the two attractions yet. For example, it is not yet known whether the carts of the Mario Kart attraction are on rails, or whether you can tear around yourself. Previously, details about the Nintendo Park have been leaked via Twitter. This shows that the Yoshi attraction may be an ‘omnimover’. Such an attraction consists of an ‘infinite’ row of carts that transport park guests through a certain part of the park. Think of the Carnival Festival in the Efteling.
According to Williams, the entire Nintendo park is also interactive. Park guests receive a magnetic bracelet complete with Mario logo. This bracelet can be used with the different park parts. This allows visitors to keep track of their high scores in the two attractions with the straps. It is not yet known how visitors can score points in these attractions. The straps can also be used for the so-called game elements in the amusement park. The park area consists of three levels, including the castles of Bowser and Princess Peach, Williams reports.

Williams also says the tapes can “communicate with your game consoles so you can come back later.” Perhaps this means that you can use the band via nfc with your own Switch. This could work, for example, with an app or game from the eShop.
The first attractions, according to Williams, only include the first phase of Super Nintendo World. So more Nintendo-related roller coasters are expected in Universal’s parks in the future. In addition, Super Nintendo World will visit Universal Parks in Orlando and Hollywood in the future.
