Nintendo has announced that it will release the Android version of Super Mario Run on March 23. The release coincides with the release of version 2.0 of the game, which brings a number of new playable characters available.

The arrival of Super Mario Run for Android became announced on the Twitter page of the US branch of Nintendo. A page had already been created in the Play Store; interested parties can register there. It is likely that Nintendo will immediately release the Android version worldwide on March 23, although the company has not yet confirmed this.

Similar to the iOS version, gamers can play the first three levels for free. After that, you have to pay to get access to the rest of the levels; for the iOS version, this amount is 10 euros, and it is likely that the Android version will receive an equivalent price, although Nintendo has not announced anything about this yet.

Version 2.0 of the game will also be available with the arrival of Super Mario Run for Android. New is, among other things, that extra playable characters are added, and that players of the free version can gain access to an extra level. Now only the first three levels are free to play, but if you successfully complete one of Bowser’s challenges, you can gain access to World 1-4.

Nintendo had already announced that Super Mario Run for Android would be released in March, but an exact release date had not yet been announced. The version for iOS came out in December.
