‘Successors Moto X smartphones are called Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play’
The successors of the Motorola Moto X devices are marketed by Lenovo as Moto Z, according to ‘smartphone nice’ Evan Blass. According to previous rumors, the devices will receive accessories that can be clicked on the back, which will be called MotoMods.
Blass writes on Venturebeat that he has seen marketing material showing the new name. The author, known for his twitter account @evleaks, is known for getting accurate information about smartphones before the launch.
Last week leaked specifications and photos of the Moto X successors. At the time, the devices were known with the code names Vector Thin and Vertex. It now appears that it concerns the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play. Motorola released three generations of the Moto X. Now that Lenovo has the smartphone brand in its hands, it is making a small name change. Lenovo also changed the name of the cheaper Moto G models. On Tuesday, the manufacturer presented the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. In previous years, Motorola kept the name ‘Moto G’ for three generations.
Blass also reports that the accessories, which can be connected to the back of the smartphones via a sixteen-pin connection, will be named MotoMods. Lenovo itself will probably come with a pico projector, stereo speakers and a camera grip with optical zoom lens, but other manufacturers could also release accessories.
Lenovo is likely to announce the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play at its Lenovo Tech World event that will take place on June 9 in San Francisco.
