According to rumors, OnePlus plans to offer more choice in terms of housings for its unannounced successor to the One smartphone. In addition, the price would be lower than 500 dollars, which converted and including VAT is lower than 500 euros.

Sources tell Business Insider that the OnePlus Two, as the device will probably be called, will be renewed both internally and externally compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus One. There will be more options for customizing the housing; Previously, OnePlus already supplied a bamboo cover for the back of the One, but it is no longer supplied. Earlier, the Chinese company already announced that it was thinking of housings made of wood and Kevlar.

It is not yet known what kind of hardware is used in the OnePlus Two. Business Insider’s sources say there will be some surprises on the hardware front, but details were not given.

The price for the Two should be less than $500. Converted and including VAT, the price should then be lower than 500 euros. The OnePlus One is currently sold from 269 euros and the Chinese smartphone maker would also like to keep its margins low with the Two, the sources say. However, OnePlus seems to want to ask more money for the successor.

OnePlus became known this year with its One smartphone, of which it has now sold half a million units. The device offers relatively fast hardware for a price that is considerably lower than that of established competitors such as HTC and Samsung. Incidentally, the One is still not freely available: an invitation is required to be able to buy the device. According to previous reports from OnePlus, the Two should be released next summer.
